On a recent grocery shopping trip, we picked up a bottle of ground ginger because we were running low. We paid ~$6 for 1.6 ounces, net wt, of ginger.

Shortly after, it occurred to me. We have a bulk herb supplier. Why pay grocery store prices for the herbs when *surely* our herb supplier can get them to us cheaper.

I looked in our catalog, and we can get a *pound* of ground ginger for under $4. So, for ~2/3 of the price, we can get ten times the ginger. Most (I hate to say all, because I haven't looked) of the other spices we use are available from them at equivalent savings.

The only thing is, we have to order a whole pound of each herb at a time. Which really isn't a big deal. I mean, herbs keep. So, I guess, next time we start getting low on something in the spice cabinet, rather than going to the grocery store to get it, we'll order it from our supplier.

Anyone else who is interested can comment with an herb or spice you're looking for, and I'll reply with what we can get it to you for.
